Have You Been Drinking??

The holidays are notorious for being less than friendly to our waistlines.  Special meals, office parties, potlucks, cookies, candies and desserts are the "usual suspects" in the gluttony.  But what about the liquid that's washing all that flavorful goodness down?  Sometimes it's not what you eat - it's what you drink that 'weighs' you down.  Here's some stats on worst holiday drinks.

Eggnog (without alcohol)

Serving Size: 1 cup (8 oz.)
Calories:  343
Fat: 19 grams
Carbohydrate: 34 grams
Sugars: 21 grams (5 teaspoons)

Apple Cider

Serving Size: 1 cup (8 oz.)
Calories: 120
Fat: 0 grams
Carbohydrate: 28 grams
Sugars: 26 grams (6 teaspoons)

Starbuck's Hot Chocolate

Serving Size: 1 Tall Size (with whipped cream)
Calories: 330
Fat: 18 grams
Carbohydrate: 33 grams
Sugars: 28 grams (7 teaspoons)

Starbuck's Chia Tea Latte

Serving Size: 1 Tall Size
Calories: 200
Fat: 5 grams
Carbohydrate: 33 grams
Sugars: 31 grams (8 teaspoons)

Hot Buttered Rum

Serving Size: 1 cup (8 oz.)
Calories: 380

Carbohydrate: 37 grams
Sugars: 27 grams (7 teaspoons)

There's the damage!  Add that to all of the holiday food and you're headed for an insulin spiked disaster!  To help minimize the calorie and sugar storm stick to drinking water or green tea.    The choice is yours - Will it be eggnog and pie or eggnog or pie?  Your waistline and post holiday workouts are counting on you!

Happy Holidays!
